Dogs Deserve A Suitable Name
Do you have, or are you planning to get, a new puppy, and are wracking your brain to find that one great name for your "Best Friend? Do you know how important it is to choose a name most appropriate, most distinctive and, yes, most effective to gain his/her attention and quick response?
Too often, new or soon-to-be, dog owners pay scant attention to selecting a truly good call name for their dogs. Any old "handle" --Susie, Prince, Lady--will do, they believe. Truth to tell, those three plus countless other short names actually will do, dogs acclimate well. But such casual names choices don't say much about the amount of imagination that went into picking them.
Spending some thoughtful time on the naming process of your new puppy will show the world that you care about your pooch. Likewise it can reflect your perspective about yourself.
Dogs Names How-To Tips
Suppose your female puppy is a Siberian Husky. How would you begin to think of a perfect name for her? Surely, it wouldn't be "Fluffy," or even "Hotsy." Thinking about the breed's background and principal purpose as working dogs, should lead you to some super clues.
How's "Fridge?" Ok, unless you figure on breeding her later, in which case you wouldn't want to have her thought of as being "frigid." That could scare stud dogs away! What about "Snowy?" Appropriate for the breed, yes, and sounding sufficiently feminine.
Devote some research time to your dog's breed and consider gender along with its origin purpose to come up with several name possibilities. Also keep in mind that short, preferably single syllable names are more compelling to quick recognition and response. Compromise is often the best solution.
Throwing all caution to the wind in favor of sheer creativity can be fun, as well as productive and satisfying to the ego. Try spelling your first or last name backwards to see if there's a decent possiblility. Injecting a letter or two into a spot in your name may produce a winner. At least the whole exercise can provide some fun in naming your pup.
